Dame Jaina Portvaillant est la plus puissante sorcière humaine vivante[7], et l'ancienne dirigeante du Kirin Tor de Dalaran et de la cité portuaire de Theramore. Elle est la fille du Grand amiral Daelin Portvaillant et la sœur de Derek Portvaillant. Elle était autrefois l'une des sorcières les plus dignes de confiance de Dalaran, entraînée comme agent personnel de l'archimage Antonidas, chef du Kirin Tor. Tôt durant la Troisième Guerre, Antonidas envoya Jaina pour découvrir ce qui se passait sur les terres nordiques de Lordaeron. Elle était escortée par son ami d'enfance et ancien amant, le prince Arthas Menethil, pour découvrir si la peste avait des origines magiques. Jaina vit de ses yeux la chute de Lordaeron et — guidée par un mystérieux prophète — rallia les survivants qu'elle put trouver pour fuir par la mer vers Kalimdor.
Jaina jura de vaincre la Légion ardente et ses sinistres agents par n'importe quel moyen. Rassemblant les survivants de Lordaeron, Jaina mena ses forces d'expédition pour vaincre le démon Archimonde et bannir la Légion à la bataille du mont Hyjal. Elle réunit ensuite les survivants humains de Kalimdor et fonda la cité portuaire de l'Île de Theramore, où elle veilla sur les vestiges en lambeaux de l'Alliance et espérait réunir à nouveau les lointains royaumes humains.[8]
Peu après la chute d'Aile de mort, la Horde déclencha une attaque dévastatrice contre Theramore, détruisant la cité. Jaina parvint à y survivre de justesse, mais l'expérience la transforma, la rendant plus belliqueuse et altérant même son apparence. Suite à la mort de Rhonin durant l'attaque, et accomplissant une prophétie faite par le dragon-mage Korialstrasz, Jaina prit la place du défunt mage en tant que chef du Kirin Tor et du Conseil des Six.[9] En dépit de ses tragédies personnelles, elle tenta de maintenir la neutralité du Kirin Tor durant la guerre Alliance-Horde War qui s'étendit aux rivages oubliés de Pandarie. Après que les Saccage-Soleil eurent pris avantage des ressources de Dalaran afin d'aider la Horde à contourner ses protections magiques et voler la Cloche divine, la fureur de Jaina s'alluma à nouveau. Dame Portvaillant purgea les Saccage-Soleil de Dalaran et aligna le Kirin Tor avec l'Alliance.
Jaina sera plus tard furieuse contre la Horde lorsque celle-ci abandonna l'Alliance durant la Bataille du Rivage Brisé qui mena à de nombreuses morts. Cependant, avec la menace grandissante de la Légion ardente, l'archimage Khadgar plaidoya en faveur du retour de la Horde au sein du Kirin Tor auprès du Conseil des Six dans le but de combattre les démons à pleine puissance. Jaina s'y opposa mais le Conseil soumit la question au vote et la majorité répondit favorablement au retour de la Horde. En réponse, Jaina quitta le Kirin Tor, incapable de pardonner la décision du Conseil.
Biographie
Premiers exploits
Jaina et Kael'thas à Dalaran
Née trois ans avant la Première guerre[10], Jaina Portvaillant est la fille cadette de l'Amiral Daelin Portvaillant, dirigeant de Kul Tiras ainsi qu'ami et allié de longue date de Lordaeron et Hurlevent. Dans son jeune âge, Jaina aimait les histoires de la Gardienne Aegwynn.[11] Quand ses talents magiques furent découverts et qu'elle fut envoyée à Dalaran, elle harcela Antonidas afin qu'il l'accepte comme apprentie, finissant par devenir l'une des quelques femmes sorciers au service direct de Dalaran. Sous la pression des attentes de son mentor, l'héritage héroïque avec lequel elle devait vivre, et l’œil vigilant de la citoyenneté de Lordaeron, Jaina se démenait pour se concentrer sur ses études.[12] Jaina est également apparue brièvement pour aider à disposer des spécimens morts-vivants de Kel'Thuzad sous les ordres d'Antonidas.[13]
En raison de leur héritage royal mutuel, il était inévitable que Jaina et le Prince Arthas, l'héritier du trône de Lordaeron, finiraient par se rencontrer. La première fois se passa dans la cathédrale de la capitale. Au fil des années, ils sont devenus de proches amis, puis amants. Kael'thas Haut-Soleil était également amoureux d'elle, mais les sentiments de Jaina n'étaient pas réciproques, préférant Arthas. Dès lors, alors qu'Arthas s'était porté volontaire pour escorter Jaina Portvaillant à Dalaran, il l'emmèna voir un camp où l'Alliance gardait les orcs capturés. Ce fut la première vraie aventure qu'ils vécurent ensemble. Ils étaient très amoureux l'un de l'autre et s'étaient engagés l'un envers l'autre pour se marier. Mais Arthas finit par se demander si les deux amants étaient prêts à être ensemble. Arthas mit brusquement fin à la relation afin que Jaina puisse se concentrer sur ses études magiques à Dalaran et que lui-même se concentre sur ses engagements avec Lordaeron. Jaina fut très blessée par sa décision, mais elle ne la contesta pas. Elle se réalisera vite et conviendra que c'était la bonne chose à faire à ce moment-là. Peu de temps après, ils décidèrent de raviver leur histoire d'amour, mais ceci arriva au début de l'invasion du Fléau qui allait changer leur vie à jamais.[12]
La Troisième guerre

De nombreuses années plus tard, Antonidas, désireux d'en apprendre davantage sur la peste qui balayait le nord de Lordaeron, fut accueilli par le [[|Medivh]] qui implora le sorcier d'emmener son peuple vers l'ouest jusqu' à Kalimdor. Antonidas considéra que le Prophète était fou, mais Jaina, qui avait observé, cachée, le Prophète sentit qu'il y avait une grande puissance en lui et pensa qu'ils devraient peut-être tenir compte de ses avertissements. Antonidas resta en désaccord avec cela et envoya Jaina rencontrer Arthas pour enquêter sur la [Peste]] dans le village nordique de Brill.
Pendant qu'ils enquêtaient à Brill, Jaina vit des choses très étranges, dont un nécromancien et un zombie constitué de diverses parties de plusieurs cadavres. Ils affrontèrent plusieurs ennemis morts-vivants et tombèrent sur un grenier qui contenait des grains infestés par la peste. Les caisses portaient le sceau d'Andorhal, le principal distributeur de grain dans tout Lordaeron.
Poursuivant le nécromancien, qui était en fait Kel'Thuzad, anciennement membre du Kirin Tor, à Andorhal, ils trouvèrent une masse de guerriers morts-vivants qui les attendaient mais ils se frayèrent un chemin jusqu'à Kel'Thuzad où le tua.
Jaina et Arthas retournèrent au centre de Lordaeron où ils s'arrêtèrent pour se reposer dans la petite ville d'Atreval. A leur arrivée, ils découvrirent que le grain infecté par la peste en provenance d'Andorhal était arrivé et avait été distribué parmi les habitants. Ils se transformaient en morts-vivants. Jaina partit à contrecœur mais hâtivement chercher des renforts. Elle rentra à Dalaran où Antonidas envoya Uther. Lorsqu'elle revint avec la [Main d'argent]] à sa suite, Atreval était presque détruit et Arthas livrait une bataille perdue. Avec l'aide d'Uther, ils réussirent à repousser les morts-vivants. Arthas, démoralisé et horrifié par les forces écrasantes des morts-vivants, jura de se rendre àStratholme, où il espérait affronter Mal'Ganis.

Jaina et Uther le suivirent jusqu' àStratholme mais ils n'arrivèrent pas à temps pour empêcher les villageois de manger le grain souillé. Tous trois savaient que le peuple de Stratholme allait bientôt devenir des morts-vivants et les attaquer. Arthas était en faveur du massacre des gens avant leur transformation pour purger la ville, mais Uther ne pouvait pas excuser le meurtre de personnes sans défense dont le seul crime était d'être infecté, même si les laisser en vie signifiait qu'ils deviendraient bientôt une menace. Quand Uther refusa de tuer les civils comme Arthas l'avait ordonné, Arthas le renia, l'accusant de trahison. Il exigea que tout fidèle au roi reste avec lui et veille à la destruction de la ville. Jaina se retourna et suivit Uther à la surprise d'Arthas.
Jaina et Uther retournèrent vers les ruines en flammes de Stratholme après qu'Arthas en eut fini. Tous deux furent consternés par ce qu'ils virent. Jaina reçut alors la visite du prophète mystérieux qui avait déjà tenté de raisonner le roi Térénas et son mentor, Antonidas. Le prophète sentait ses capacités de meneuse d'hommes et l'exhorta à emmener avec elle les gens qu'elle pouvait vers l'ouest, fuyant Lordaeron et son pays natal de Kul Tiras. Plusieurs mois plus tard, Arthas et le Fléau commencèrent leur invasion de [Dalaran]]. C'est à ce moment que Jaina et Antonidas se rendirent compte que le prophète avait raison. Antonidas encouragea Jaina à prendre autant de survivants de [Lordaeron (continent)|Lordaeron]] qu'elle pouvait trouver et à naviguer vers l'ouest pour Kalimdor. Jaina décida de suivre ses paroles et se prépara.
A un certain point, avant de partir (mais après la chute de Quel'Thalas), elle essaya de consoler Kael, attristé par la mort de son père. Kaël la rejeta avec colère et lui reprocha de lui avoir préféré un tel "monstre" en parlant d'Arthas. Après cela, elle vit l'armée d'Arthas approcher de Dalaran. Voulant d'abord le confronter personnellement elle se ravisa après s'être rappelé de ses tentatives infructueuses passées pour le faire changer d'avis. Bien qu'elle ait offert d'aider son mentor et les mages de Dalaran à défendre la ville contre le Fléau, Antonidas insista pour qu'elle s'occupe de ses autres devoirs et mène ce qui reste de son peuple à travers la Grande Mer.

En arrivant en Kalimdor, Jaina découvrit qu'il y avait des orcs. Croyant que la Horde les avait suivis depuis Lordaeron, Jaina se heurta aux troupes de Grom Hurlenfer. Ensuite, Jaina partit à la recherche du Prophète. Non seulement le pic des Serres-Rocheuses était une bonne défense, mais elle ressentait également une grande puissance à l'intérieur. Jaina mena une petite expédition dans la montagne avec l'espoir de trouver un peu de puissance qui pourrait l'aider à vaincre les orcs. Mais elle sentit qu'ils étaient suivis.
Après avoir fait une percée dans le cœur de la montagne, Jaina tomba sur Thrall et Cairne. Ils étaient sur le point de se battre quand ils furent soudainement tous confrontés à l'Oracle, qui était en fait le Prophète Medivh qu'ils avaient rencontré à Lordaeron. Le prophète Medivh les implora tous de s'allier les uns aux autres, disant qu'ils ne survivraient pas seuls contre la puissance de la Légion ardente.
A contrecœur, Jaina accepta d'allier ses forces à celles de Thrall contre Hurlenfer et une armée d'orcs du chaos et de démons. Jaina lui donna une Gemme d'âme, qu'il utilisa pour capturer l'essence de Grom au début de l'invasion de Kalimdor. Puis, elle l'aida à purger Grom de la malédiction démoniaque qui l'avait saisi.
Jaina et Thrall poursuivirent leur alliance, même si leurs troupes n'étaient pas très enthousiastes, même après la mort de Hurlenfer. Ils furent terrifiés par les morts-vivants mais aussi par les attaques meurtrières des elfes de la nuit. Bien que leur alliance les ait maintenus en vie, elles ne tenaient qu' à un fil.
Finalement, Thrall reçut une vision. Jaina le suivit jusqu'à l'endroit où il devait se rendre, ils y trouvèrent les chefs des elfes de la nuit, [[Malfurion Hurlorage}} et Tyrande Murmevent. Le Prophète apparut, et se révéla être nul autre que Medivh, de retour pour corriger ses erreurs d'antan. Il implora les humains, les orcs et les elfes de nuit de joindre leurs forces contre la Légion, sinon ils tomberaient tous seuls. Tous acceptèrent de défendre le mont Hyjal ensemble.
Jaina utilisa ses sorts de téléportation pour explorer les environs et découvrit que Archimonde et sa garde funeste remontaient rapidement la montagne. Les défenseurs mirent en place trois bases en remontant la montagne pour tenter d'arrêter son ascension.
La base de Jaina était la première sur le chemin d'Archimonde, et ce fut donc la première à tomber, mais avant qu'il ne puisse la tuer, Jaina s'échappa des griffes d'Archimonde. La prochaine base était celle de Thrall, et Jaina utilisa son énergie restante pour téléporter Thrall de sa base avant qu'Archimonde ne le détruise, afin qu'ils puissent vivre pour se battre un autre jour.
Fondation de Theramore
Après la défaite de la Légion sur le mont Hyjal, Jaina emmena ses réfugiés dans un avant-poste insulaire au large de la côte est de Kalimdor, nouvellement nommé Theramore.
La date exacte de la fondation de Theramore n'est pas claire (les sources diffèrent quant à savoir si elle a été fondée avant ou après la bataille du mont Hyjal), mais le rôle de la citadelle est important dans l'histoire de la fondation de la nation orc, Durotar.
Lorsque Rexxar exigea une explication sur l’empiétement des humains sur Durotar et la tentative d'assassinat, Jaina déclara qu'elle n'en avait nulle connaissance. Lorsque Jaina accepta d'aider les [Mok'Nathal]] à enquêter, ils découvrirent que l'avant-poste accusateur était attaqué par les nagas. Après une rencontre avec un marin mourant, Jaina se rendit compte avec horreur que son père avait décidé de lui rendre visite. Jaina implora l'Amiral d'épargner Rexxar, mais Daelin n'en fit rien. Rexxar et ses compagnons s'échappèrent et Thrall rallia une armée pour repousser l'assaut de Portvaillant.
Jaina était désespérée. Tout en se sentant loyale envers son père et sa nation, son expérience avec le Fléau et la Légion l' avait convaincue que les vendettas comme celles de son père n'étaient pas importantes dans le grand dessein. Jaina aida la Horde à s'emparer des navires des gobelins et ordonna à ses propres troupes de se retirer lorsqu'ils [[Les flammes de gloire de Theramore#Cité de Theramore|attaquèrent Theramore]. Les derniers mots de Jaina à son père furent de lui demander pourquoi il n'avait pas écouté.
Cycle de la Haine
Theramore et Durotar restèrent relativement en paix pendant trois ans, bien que les deux anciens ennemis jurés se méfiaient encore l'un de l'autre. Finalement, une série d'incidents maritimes mineurs finirent par créer une tension extrême entre les deux puissances, suffisamment pour que les gobelins, qui contrôlent le seul port neutre de la région, se plaignent.
Malgré la tension, Thrall demanda l'aide de Jaina pour déplacer un troupeau de lézards-tonnerres amenés par une mystérieuse opération forestière dans les falaises du Tonnerre. Jaina avait l'intention de déplacer les lézards dans une région peu peuplée de l'autre côté de Mulgore, mais fut étonnée de découvrir que la région était magiquement vouée à la protection de son seul habitant : Aegwynn.
L'ancienne Gardienne balaya l'admiration de Jaina mais elle combla les lacunes de ce qui s'était passé au milieu des tensions entre Theramore et Durotar : un démon inférieur, Zmodlor avait ressuscité le clan de la Lame-Ardente et montait les deux puissances l'une contre l'autre.
Jaina et Aegwynn retournèrent précipitamment à Theramore, où ils découvrirent que le chambellan de Jaina avait été corrompu par la Lame-Ardente. Après avoir eu affaire au renégat, ils s'en prirent à Zmodlor lui-même. Malheureusement, le démon était soutenu par une petite cabale de sorciers. Jaina faillit être tuée mais Aegwynn put utiliser sa propre force vitale pour la soutenir, et Jaina réussit à vaincre les sorciers et à bannir de nouveau Zmodlor dans le Néant distordu. La crise passée, Jaina et Thrall se mirent à rédiger un pacte permanent de non-agression pour s'assurer que la méfiance mutuelle de leurs peuples ne dégénère plus jamais en guerre.
Contre toute attente, Aegwynn survécut et assuma les fonctions laissées par le chambellan de Jaina.
World of Warcraft
En tant que souveraine de Theramore, Jaina dirigeait la ville et pouvait être trouvée dans sa tour. Après avoir rejoint le royaume des vents de tempête, elle insista pour faire un sommet entre Thrall et le roi [[[Varian Wrynn]]. Varian fut convaincu par son fils [[[Anduin Wrynn|Anduin]], mais au cours d'un voyage en mer, Varian disparut mystérieusement. Alors qu'une enquête sur le roi disparu et la confrérie Défias était en cours, elle et Tervosh aidèrent à capturer Hendel qui était allié avec la confrérie. Lors de la chute de Zul'jin, Jaina put découvrir que la confrérie Defias, qui avait kidnappé Varian, était alliée à Onyxia. Elle envoya immédiatement cette information à [[[Bolvar]]. (Depuis la 4.0.3, elle informe Varian, qui voudrait sans doute en faire un exemple parmi les autres, du lien entre les Défias et Onyxia.)
World of Warcraft : La bande-dessinée

Tyrande Murmevent dit à Jaina que deux gladiateurs arriveront bientôt à Theramore. Jaina était heureuse de voir Broll beaucoup plus calme maintenant et perçut immédiatement une magie noire autour de Lo'Gosh. Jaina aida le gladiateur amnésique à se souvenir de sa véritable identité avec l'aide de son chambellan ,[Aegwynn]]. Il fut par la suite révélé que le gladiateur était Varian Wrynn depuis longtemps disparu. Elle lui attribua un bateau vers lesroyaumes de l'Est pour retrouver son fils et mettre au jour les traîtres. Elle informa ensuite le roi Magni à propos de Lo'Gosh.
Quelques jours plus tard, Lo'Gosh, Varian et leur groupe retournèrent à Theramore pour traquer Onyxia qui avait enlevé Anduin. Avant de partir, Jaina mena un rituel dans lequel Lo'Gosh et Varian se souvinrent de ce qui s'est réellement passé quand Onyxia avait enlevé Varian alors qu'il se rendait à une réunion avec Thrall. Katrana les avait divisés en créant deux Varians différents. Quelques instants plus tard, les nagas dirigés par Morgala Sombre-Rafale l'attaqua et enleva les deux Varians, bien que celui qui serait plus tard connu sous le nom de Lo'Gosh sauta dans l'eau, le second étant rançonné. Après cette révélation, Jaina leur donna les lames Shalla'tor et Ellemayne. Elle aida ensuite les Varians et ses camarades dans la bataille contre Onyxia.
Après la mort d'Onyxia, elle fut également l'instigatrice principale de la proposition d'alliance entre les humains de Hurlevent et les orcs d'Orgrimmar sur le chemin du retour vers Theramore. Varian était convaincu et elle se rendit à Tranchecolline où elle rencontra Thrall et lui raconta l'histoire de Varian. Le chef orc accepta également la réunion. Jaina ensuite retourna à Theramore, prépara la réunion, attendit et accueillit Thrall et ses conseillers Rehgar et Garrosh.
Lorsque Arthas tua la forme de rêve de Ner'zhul et se réveilla de son sommeil de six ans en tant que nouveau roi-liche, Jaina sentit qu'il se passait quelque chose de terrible.[12]
Après avoir défendu Theramore contre une attaque du Fléau envoyé par le roi-liche, elle deviendra plus tard membre fondateur du Nouveau conseil de Tirisfal. L'organisation antérieurement disparue fut rétablie pour aider Med'an à combattre Cho'gall et le Marteau du Crépuscule. Après une série d'attaques à Theramore, qui furent repoussées avec succès, Jaina et les autres membres renforcèrent les pouvoirs Med'an qui affronta l'ogre-mage. Elle fut attristée par la mort d'Aegwynn et a été vue pour la dernière fois lors de ses funérailles au Défilé de Deuillevent.
Burning Crusade
Lorsque les draenei s'écrasèrent sur[Azeroth]], Jaina fut l'une des premières à les aider.
Les aventuriers se sont rendus dans [[[les Grottes du temps]] pour faire l'expérience de la bataille pour le mont Hyjal afin d'aider Jaina à contrer d'innombrables vagues, notamment Rage Froidhiver et[Anetheron]]. Ensuite, elle se téléporte jusqu'à la base Thrall pour l'assister.
Wrath of the Lich King
Après la mort de Bolvar Fordragon, le roi Varian Wrynn prépara les forces de l'Alliance pour une guerre totale contre la Horde. Désespérée d'éviter une quatrième guerre, Jaina se téléporta à Orgrimmar pour découvrir la vérité sur les récents événements survenus dans le Norfendre. Elle y apprit par Sylvanas Coursevent qu'un soulèvement éclata et que Varimathras avait pris le contrôle de Fossoyeuse. Le traître renégat Horde, le Grand apothicaire Putrescin, était de mèche avec Varimarthas. Thrall assura à Jaina que la Horde n'avait aucun intérêt officiel à mener une guerre contre l'Alliance, à moins d'être provoquée, et qu'il s'occuperait du traître. Jaïna leur dit qu'elle livrerait leur explication à Varian mais les avertit qu'il pourrait continuer à faire la guerre étant donné que le défunt généralissime était comme un frère pour le roi.
L'évaluation de Jaina s'avéra exacte lorsque les forces de Thrall, La bataille pour Fossoyeuse (Horde)|tentant de reprendre le contrôle de Fossoyeuse et celles du Roi Wrynn (espérant reprendre Lordaeron pour l'Alliance et [[Quête|La bataille de Fossoyeuse (Alliance)|traduire Putrescin en justice}}}) s'affrontèrent à Fossoyeuse. Refusant de permettre à la Horde et à l'Alliance de sombrer dans la guerre ouverte, Jaina stoppa l'armée de l'Alliance (littéralement) et les ramena à Hurlevent.
Les Secrets d'Ulduar

Quand Brann Barbe-de-Bronze apprit que Yogg-Saron s'était évadé de son ancienne prison à Ulduar, Rhonin et Jaina organisèrent une conférence des dirigeants de l'Alliance et de la Horde à la citadelle Pourpre. Alors que Rhonin faisait un compte-rendu de la situation, Jaina remarqua que Thrall et Garrosh Hurlenfer étaient arrivés plus tôt et essaya de les arrêter avant qu'un autre affrontement ne commence. Elle ne put empêcher Varian et Garrosh d'en venir aux mains et le roi Wrynn partit, refusant de travailler avec la Horde après les événements au portail du Courroux. Jaina se demanda à haute voix qui restait-il pour défier Yogg-Saron.[14]

Après avoir découvert une brèche dans les défenses de la citadelle de la Couronne de glace à travers la Forge des âmes et la Fosse de Saron, Jaina mène personnellement une équipe de champions de l'Alliance aux dans les Salles des Reflets dans un effort pour découvrir la faiblesse du roi-liche et obtenir une éventuelle rédemption.[15]
Après que Jaina et ses alliés aient réussi à libérer certains prisonniers du roi-liche et à tuer Tyrannus, les wyrm de glace Sindragosa attaquèrent, tuant presque tout le groupe.
Dans les quartiers privés du roi-liche, Jaina et sa troupe découvrirent Deuillegivre non gardée, la lame qui a volé l'âme d'Arthas et a entraîné la chute de Lordaeron. Jaina communiqua avec les âmes volées dans Deuillegivre et, à sa grande surprise, Uther le Porteur de Lumière apparut et lui révéla une terrible vérité. Non seulement il l'informa qu'Arthas n'était rien d'autre qu'une petite lueur de lumière dans la haine du roi-liche, mais afin de protéger Azeroth, le roi-liche devait être tué et un remplaçant devait faire le sacrifice ultime.
Soudainement, le roi-liche entra dans ses quartiers et Uther fut aspiré de nouveau dans Deuillegivre. Le roi-liche reconnut froidement Jaina tout en retirant Deuillegivre de son piédestal. Le roi-liche convoqua Falric et Marwyn, deux capitaines qui ont combattu aux côtés de Jaina pendant la Troisième guerre. Alors que le roi-liche se retirait dans ses appartements privés et envoyait ses capitaines sur ses alliés, Jaina restait déterminée à sauver Arthas et le poursuivit alors que les portes derrière elle se refermaient. Après la défaite des deux capitaines, les alliés de Jaina se précipitèrent à son secours pour la retrouver au bord de la défaite, son ancien amant l'attaquant brutalement. Le cœur brisé et se rendant compte qu'il ne restait vraiment plus rien d'Arthas, Jaina et ses alliés s'enfuirent à travers le passage caché, poursuivis par le roi-liche. Alors qu'ils arrivaient à une falaise, le Brise-Ciel débarqua et les secourut au dernier moment.
Chute du roi-liche
Après que le Porte-mort ait été tué par une équipe d'aventuriers de l'Alliance, Muradin Barbe-de-Bronze, fraîchement sortie de la bataille des cannonières, ne voulut pas permettre à Varok Saurcroc de récupérer le cadavre de son fils. Mais lorsque le roi Varian et Dame Jaina se téléportèrent sur les lieux, Varian ordonna à Muradin de s'écarter et de laisser passer le père endeuillé, ce à quoi Jaina éclata en sanglots par respect pour son roi.
Après être apparemment revenue au Marteau de la lumière par la suite, elle fut en mesure de dire qu'Arthas était mort.
Si un aventurier lui apporte le médaillon de Jaina après la défaite du roi-liche, elle pleure en déclarant qu'elle savait qu'il y avait encore une partie d'Arthas piégée dans le roi-liche.
Legends : Nightmares
Lorsque le Cauchemar d'émeraude envahit le royaume des mortels sous la forme d'une brume magique et emprisonna les habitants d'Azeroth dans leurs cauchemars, Jaina en devint l'une de ses victimes. Dans le cauchemar de Jaina, elle aida Arthas à purger Stratholme et le suivit avec Muradin en Norfendre pour combattre Mal'Ganis. Ils attaquèrent le seigneur de l'effroi et son armée de morts-vivants, mais pendant la bataille, Muradin glissa et tomba dans une fosse. Dans ce cauchemar, Jaina choisit d'aider Arthas à attaquer les morts-vivants, tandis que Muradin est bien présumé mort. Quand ils vainquirent Mal'Ganis, ils trouvèrent peu après une grotte contenant Deuillegivre. Jaina lut l'avertissement sur la malédiction de la lame. Juste avant qu'Arthas ne s'empare de la lame, Mal'Ganis l' attaqua. Jaina n'eut alors pas d'autre choix que de ramasser la lame et de tuer le seigneur de l'effroi. Elle a sauvé Arthas mais est aussi devenue la reine-liche.[16]
Agitation élémentaire
Elle était présente à la réunion sur l'Agitation élémentaire. Pendant l'Invasion élémentaire, Jaina protégea le Quartier des mages des éléments.
L'Effondrement : Prélude au Cataclysme
Jaina assista à une cérémonie commémorative à Hurlevent qui honorait ceux qui étaient morts durant la guerre contre le roi-liche. Au cours de la cérémonie un rapport arriva faisant état d'une agression brutale d'une caravane elfe de la nuit par des membres supposés de la Horde. Le roi Varian Wrynn envisagea une action violente en réponse aux tensions croissantes entre l'Alliance et la Horde. Jaina réussit à persuader Varian de rester sa main et de prendre des mesures diplomatiques en lui rappelant d'abord que même lui ne pouvait contrôler son propre peuple, comme le prouvèrent les Défias ; mais Varian lui rappela par la suite qu'elle avait tendance à faire confiance aux mauvaises personnes, comme en le prouva Arthas. Il semble que Jaina connaisse, ou du moins ait entendu des rumeurs, sur le sort de Bolvar Fordragon au sommet de la couronne de glace. Après cela, Jaina alla voir Anduin, que Varian lui avait donné la permission de s'occuper en son absence, et lui donna une [[[pierre de foyer]] qui était liée à Theramore.
Après cela, Jaina rencontra secrètement le chef de guerre Thrall pour obtenir une explication à cette violation flagrante de leur accord de paix. Thrall expliqua qu'il n'avait pas autorisé cette attaque et que le roi Varian lui avait demandé de la condamner publiquement, de remettre tous les contrevenants à l'Alliance pour que justice lui soit rendue et de montrer sa bonne foi comme quoi la Horde était disposée à poursuivre des relations pacifiques avec l'Alliance. Thrall était seulement prêt à déclarer son intention de continuer à honorer le traité de paix, mais il refusa de condamner publiquement l'attaque en reprochant au pragmatisme de rester en vie, même avec des mesures violentes qu'il désapprouvait, alors que l'Alliance avait délibérément coupé tout commerce avec eux et leur causait beaucoup de souffrances serait une attaque trop cruelle contre l'identité de son peuple. Il n'était pas non plus disposé à envoyer les contrevenants à l'Alliance pour qu'ils soient jugés. Bien que Jaina comprenait la position de Thrall, elle l'exhorta néanmoins à trouver un moyen de répondre aux demandes de l'Alliance, car sa non-coopération ne faisait que pousser l'Alliance et la Horde à la guerre.
Anduin utilisa la pierre du foyer lorsqu'il voulut rendre visite à sa "tante" Jaina quand elle revint de sa rencontre avec Thrall et plus tard quand Moira Thaurissan reprit Forgefer. Avant que Moira ne prenne le pouvoir, Jaina assista aussi aux funérailles du défunt roi Magni Barbe-de-Bronze.
Plus tard, elle fournit un sanctuaire à l'exilé Baine Sabot-de-Sang qui cherchait de l'aide contre le clan Totem-Sinistre. [Magatha Totem-Sinistre]] avait orchestré la mort de son père, Cairne Sabot-de-Sang et avait pris le contrôle de Pitons du Tonnerre. Sympathisant avec Baine et impressionné par son amitié naissante avec son pupille, le prince Anduin Wrynn, Jaina accepta de financer la rébellion de Baine avec de l'or intracable de Theramore. Anduin apprit de Jaina que Varian avait envoyé des agents du SI:7 pour assassiner Moira et libérer Forgefer. Après une longue conversation, Anduin la convainquit de créer un portail vers Forgefer pour pouvoir dissuader Varian de cette démarche.
Cataclysm
Puisque le chef de guerre Garrosh voulait vaincre les elfes de la nuit et conquérir l'ensemble de Kalimdor sous la bannière de la Horde, des offensives dans les Tarides du Sud furent envoyées en réponse et ont sécurisé des territoires qui appartenaient autrefois à la Horde pour Varian et ses alliés. Les humains de[Theramore]] envoyèrent leur armée et tentèrent d'établir une ligne militaire entre le territoire elfe et Theramore. [17] Theramore fit construire une route qui relie Theramore au marécage d'Aprefange ; permettant à l'Alliance de se déplacer plus rapidement et d'envoyer des approvisionnements et des troupes de Theramore aux bases militaires de l'Alliance dans les Tarides du Sud. Après l'invasion surprise de Orneval par la Horde, les forces de l'Alliance quittèrent Theramore pour attaquer les Tarides.[9]
Peu de temps après la réémergence d'Aile de Mort en Azeroth, Jaina fut convoqué à Dalaran par Rhonin et, à sa demande, elle prit Kinndy Luisétincelle comme apprentie. [18].
Durant l'assaut sur les Terres de feu, Jaina se rendit au mont Hyjal pour assister à l'union de Thrall et Aggra.
Cœur-de-loup
Bien que Jaina aurait préféré assister à la réunion à Darnassus, elle choisit de rester à Theramore pour continuer à organiser les forces de l'Alliance. A sa place vint l'Archimage Tervosh.
Le Sang de nos pères
En tant que dirigeante de l'île de Theramore, Jaina faisait partie de la délégation d'honneur qui se rendait à Hurlevent pour une réunion. Elle y salua le baron Lescovar, qui était saoul et la traita d'amante d'orc. Jaina continua d'essayer de dissuader le roi Varian Wrynn de sa position inflexible contre la Horde. Malgré les divergences d'opinions, Jaina a toujours été l'allié du roi Wrynn, sinon son plus ardent défenseur. Elle continue à conseiller le roi non seulement sur les questions d'état, mais aussi sur les questions de cœur, et plus particulièrement sur sa relation turbulente avec son fils Anduin. Lorsque Varian fut sur le point de prononcer un discours à la cérémonie du Souvenir, il fut porté disparu et Jaina avec Mathias Shaw et Marcus Jonathan partirent à sa recherche. Elle le trouva mourant au cimetière de Hurlevent Stormwind mais Anduin le soigna. Jaina accompagna ensuite Anduin et tous les invités pour écouter le discours de Varian.

Finiront par se briser sur le rivage.
Après la disparition d'Aile de Mort, Jaina s'inquiéta de plus en plus de la montée des tensions entre la Horde et l'Alliance. Jaina se rendit plus tard dans la baie du mascaret où elle rencontra Thrall en secret, où elle essaya de le convaincre de faire quelque chose à propos de Garrosh, dont le bellicisme poussait l'Alliance et la Horde à la guerre. Thrall, qui s'appelait maintenant Go'el, était engagé sur sa nouvelle voie et ne pouvait abandonner le travail qu'ils faisaient, lui et le Cercle terrestre, pour guérir les dommages que le Cataclysme avait causés à Azeroth. Malgré tout, Jaina était persuadée que s'ils hésitaient encore, une guerre s'ensuivrait et de nombreux innocents en paieraient le prix.
Déconcertée par la décision de Thrall, Jaina revint plus tard à Theramore, mais quelques temps plus tard, l'ancien aspect de la magie Kalecgos lui rendit visite et demanda à Jaina de l'aider à retrouver l'Iris de focalisation disparu, ce à quoi Jaina accepta de l'aider dans cette entreprise importante. Les conseillers de Jaina : l'Archimage Tervosh, le garde du corps elfe Peine et Kinndy, furent tous chargés d'obtenir des informations sur l'artefact. Au fil des jours, Jaina et Kalec se rapprochèrent en parlant de leur passé, de leurs amours et de leurs douleurs. Avec le temps, Peine apprit que la Horde se regroupait près de Guet-du-Nord et envoya un mot à Jaina. Désormais, Jaina avait deux problèmes : la recherche de l'iris de focalisation et la tentative d'expansionnisme de la Horde. Bien qu'elle craignait que Guet-du-Nord ne tombe aux mains de la Horde, elle pensait que la découverte de l'Iris était prioritaire. Finalement, elle et Kalec réussirent à comprendre pourquoi Kalec ne pouvait sentir l'Iris : les coupables utilisaient des sorts de transformation pour le masquer et cacher sa présence aux sens de Kalec.
Quelque temps après que Baine ait envoyé Perith Sabot-Tempête, l'un de ses longs-marcheurs, pour annoncer la chute de Fort de Guet-du-Nord, du désir de Garrosh de conquérir la totalité de Kalimdor et que la Horde avait l'intention de marcher sur Theramore. Après que Parith lui ait remis Brise-Peur (donné à Perith pour que ses avertissements soient entendus), Jaina lui promit qu'il serait rendu à Anduin et lui donna une dérogation pour s'assurer qu'il pourrait quitter le territoire de l'Alliance indemne pour le sien. Une fois £Perith parti de la ville, Jaina et ses conseillers se préparèrent à la guerre. Pendant ce temps, Kalecgos revint à Theramore et décida de rester et d'aider Jaina à défendre sa ville. Jaina commença à contacter tous les alliés qu'elle pouvait pour aider à défendre Theramore, y compris le roi Varian Wrynn et les autres chefs de l'Alliance.
Après avoir vu des navires de guerre de la Horde près des frontières maritimes de l'Alliance, Jaina fut convaincue de demander de l'aide à Rhonin et au Kirin Tor. Après avoir été informé que Rhonin ne pouvait prendre seul une telle décision, Jaina se vit confier la tâche de convaincre le Conseil des six de l'aider. Après de longues discussions, le Conseil des six accepta d'envoyer de l'aide à Theramore dans l'espoir que leur présence aura un effet dissuasif ; pensant que ne rien faire serait un soutien tacite à la guerre de Garrosh. Khadgar, l'un des membres des Six, envoya également un message à A'dal qui envoya un contingent de forces sha'tari.[19]
La défense de Theramore fut vaine : bien que l'attaque initiale de la Horde contre Theramore ait été repoussée, il s'avéra que tout cela avait été une attaque feinte afin de rassembler en un seul lieu les meilleurs et les plus brillants éléments de l'Alliance, puis de les anéantir avec une bombe de mana renforcée par l'Iris de focalisation. L'Alliance découvrit cela trop tard et la nation de Theramore fut complètement anéantie. Jaina et quelques camarades de l'Alliance survécurent de justesse grâce à Rhonin qui les avait poussé dans un portail juste avant l'explosion de la bombe à mana, les protégeant de la déflagration au prix de sa vie.

Quand Jaina se réveilla, elle se retrouva rayonnante d'une énergie obscure et presque tous ses cheveux, jadis blonds, étaient devenus blancs clair de lune. Bien que Kalec l'ait suppliée de ne pas y retourner tout de suite, car il savait que personne n'aurait pu survivre à l'explosion, Jaina en fut tout de même choquée. Jaina fut horrifiée par la perte de tout ce pour quoi elle avait travaillé et par la mort de ses amis et de ses proches. Elle tomba ensuite sur le cadavre de Kinndy ; quand elle toucha son épaule pour retourner le corps, le corps de la jeune gnome, imprégné d'une énergie obscure, s'effondra en poussière violette. Ce fut à ce moment-là, perdant quelqu'un d'aussi brillant et plein de promesses, que Jaina craqua.
Emplie de fureur et de rage, Jaina exerça sa vengeance sur la Horde restée en arrière pour piller les ruines et qui osa l'attaquer. Ne se souciant pas des conséquences morales, elle escalada le cratère où se trouvait l'Iris de focalisation et le cacha pour pouvoir l'utiliser contre la Horde. Elle se rendit plus tard à Hurlevent pour obtenir leur soutien en vue d'une contre-attaque brutale et immédiate. Le roi Varian hésitait à simplement attaquer Orgrimmar de front avec leurs récentes pertes et conseilla plutôt la prudence. Le roi Varian et le prince Anduin s'opposèrent également à l'utilisation de tactiques déshonorantes pour mener la guerre et révèlèrent que la Horde, au lendemain de la chute de Théramore, avait mis en place un blocus naval efficace de Kalimdor. Pour ne pas se laisser détourner de sa vengeance, Jaina quitta Hurlevent et se rendit à Dalaran pour exiger que le Kirin Tor lance une frappe contre la Horde, allant même jusqu'à recommander que Dalaran soit transporté au-dessus d'Orgrimmar afin de faire pleurvoir la destruction sur la ville. Bien qu'ils se soient engagés à faire en sorte que Garrosh Hurlenfer réponde de la mort de Rhonin, le Kirin Tor n'était pas disposé à donner leur soutien à Jaina pour détruire Orgrimmar : ils venaient de perdre leur chef du fait de leur implication dans la guerre et de leur conviction que les plans de Jaina pourraient mener à la mort de nombreux innocents qui n'avaient rien à voir avec le bombardement de Theramore.
Seeking vengeance and unaware that the Alliance was rebuilding their fleet to counterattack the Horde, Jaina traveled to the Dalaran library and located The Sixth Element: Additional Methods of Arcane Augmentation and Manipulation, which she realizes had been found and warded shut by her mentor Antonidas. Seeing it as a sign of that her Antonidas would agree with her plans Jaina carefully broke the seal so that it would not set off the magical security alarms and discovered that the author theorized that the arcane was like an element, and that the Focusing Iris had been used once to enslave and control elementals. Using this knowledge Jaina would head towards Ratchet and then secure Fray Island and began her plan to destroy Orgrimmar by using the Focusing Iris to summon a massive tidal wave's worth of water elementals to drown the whole city.
Having been begged for help by the elements beforehand, Thrall barely arrived in time and tried to dissuade her from committing the horrific act, but Jaina ignored his pleas. She sent the elemental wave on its way and it is all he can do just to stalemate her water with the help of the wind; he quickly realizes that it is a wonder that he is able to keep the water back at all. Enraged, Jaina attempts to kill Thrall with an arcane blast; he manages to deflect a fireball and cleverly uses the wave itself to duck under a pillar of fire, but doing all this, while holding back the wave and trying to talk Jaina down takes its toll. Thrall is forced to pour all of himself into the wind, with nothing left to protect himself with when Kalecgos arrived, preventing Jaina from killing Thrall. Kalecgos in reasoning with Jaina told her that he knew what loss felt like (due to losing Anveena Teague), but that revenge will not bring them back, and one can heal as long as they don't do something so horrible that they can't take back. Thrall adds that using the Iris in a way that Garrosh, a thief, coward and butcher also had would cast her in the same light as well, and if she wanted that.
When Jaina said she did what she knew to be right, Kalec bluntly reminded her that Arthas had believed the same thing when he carried out the culling of Stratholme and pleaded with her not to stoop to the same level, saying that even Arthas had not reacted with such hatred. Jaina considered Kalec's words, and was horrified to realize that not only was her behavior similar to Arthas, but that her intended actions were nearly identical to what Garrosh and the Twilight Hammer had done with the Iris. Realizing what she almost became, Jaina dispelled the tsunami remarking that while she would fight Garrosh's Horde, she would not murder civilians. She told Thrall that peace might be possible when Garrosh was removed, but not a moment before and both friends realized that their friendship is yet another causality of Garrosh's brutality, with Jaina admitting it would be a long, long time—-if ever—-before she could call Thrall "friend" again.
Asking Kalecgos to fly her and the Iris over the Horde capital, they can see the Horde's enthralled krakens nearly annihilating the Alliance fleet, which was sent to besiege Bladefist Bay and eventually Orgrimmar. Jaina was horrified to realize that if Thrall and Kalec hadn't stopped her, she would have destroyed the entire Alliance fleet as well. She uses the Iris to summon an army of water elementals to save the fleet. With the fleet rescued, Jaina and the Alliance fleet remnants sailed to Northwatch Hold, routing any Horde presence in that area and reclaiming the ruined Alliance outpost, thus ending the Horde's blockade of Kalimdor. With Northwatch secured, Varian sends an Alliance ship to Theramore to give those who died a proper burial.
Kalecgos takes Jaina back to the ruins of Theramore for closure, and to her amazement, they come across Fearbreaker, perfectly intact despite of the bomb. Coming to grips with her grief, she sobs as Kalec comforts her. As they talk, he helps her to realize that she wishes to return to Dalaran and the Kirin Tor, remembering that Rhonin had told her that she was its' future. Acknowledging their feelings for each other, Kalec kisses Jaina, formally beginning a relationship.
Meeting with the remaining members of the Six, Jaina hands over the tome she stole, explaining what she did and its' role with the Focusing Iris. Kalec, as leader of the blue flight, unexpectedly donates the Iris to the Kirin Tor for safe-keeping. Jaina makes her formal request to return to the Kirin Tor as a novice member, which they turn down... because they wish her to take Rhonin's place as leader instead. Khadgar explains that Vereesa found a box that contained secret scrolls of prophecy written by Korialstrasz, one of which perfectly describes Jaina as she is now and the events that had just affected her. In the aftermath of all that had occurred, Jaina's restraint in the face of despair has shown them much of her character. Jaina points out that she needed help and part of the thanks goes to Kalec, and so Khadgar extends an invitation to the former Aspect to join the Kirin Tor himself.
After seeing to the new mass grave outside Theramore as the Kirin Tor's new leader, Jaina, with Kalec by her side, presided over her predecessor's memorial service at the Violet Citadel.

Jaina is a key part of the Alliance side of the scenario Theramore's Fall, which takes place in-game concurrent to the events of Tides of War and following the destruction of Theramore by Garrosh.
At the center crater of her ruined city, Jaina attunes to the Focusing Iris before transport while Alliance agents, aided by three water elementals she summons, eliminate the remainder of the Horde's forces, including Warlord Rok'nah, but does not seem to actually take part in the battle herself, as described in the novel.
- Lady Jaina Proudmoore dit: All of you have my deepest thanks. With the Focusing Iris removed, this lifeless bomb is a sickening testament to Garrosh's brutality. The winds of change blow fiercely; Azeroth is now on the brink of war. My apologies, but you must excuse me... I have much to consider. Farewell.
Accostage
Jaina, as the leader of the Kirin Tor, was present during the Alliance meeting in the Shrine of Seven Stars, where the Alliance dignitaries and allies discussed the pros and cons of using Sha power. She remained silent in her opinion but did restrain the Sha when it physically manifested into an Echo of Hatred.
King Varian Wrynn sent Anduin Wrynn and an Alliance adventurer to negotiate with Jaina Proudmoore the withdrawal of blood elves from Dalaran as the Sunreavers claim fealty to the Horde and represent a major threat to the war effort. Jaina Proudmoore refused, citing a desire to maintain Dalaran's neutrality. Her reason being that despite her disdain for Garrosh, Dalaran could serve as a beacon of hope for peace. By showing the world that both Alliance and Horde can trust each other and work together in their city, the world would be able to believe that they could eventually be above the war. She and Anduin talked, and Jaina admitted that she was not proud of how she had planned to wipe out Orgrimmar. She stated that the Kirin Tor has a legacy of abuse and though members of the Kirin Tor have loyalties to both the Alliance and Horde, she hopes that they can trust each other to remain united in their mission to use power responsibly, despite if it conflicts with their faction's agenda. She later assists the night elves by increasing Darnassus' magical defenses in order to prevent Garrosh from obtaining the Divine Bell.

Despite their best efforts, the Horde successfully snuck into Darnassus and stole the Divine Bell. Jaina returned to Darnassus and while trying to discover how her shields failed, found evidence that implicated someone familiar with the Kirin Tor and the Dalaran portal network to aid in the theft. Furious at this betrayal, Jaina mobilized the Kirin Tor, Alliance forces, and the Silver Covenant to purge the Sunreavers from Dalaran. After a brief confrontation with Aethas Sunreaver, Jaina chose to incarcerate them. Those that surrendered were imprisoned in the Violet Hold while those that resisted were put to the sword. After the purge, Jaina reported to King Varian that Dalaran was free of Horde interference and pledged the Kirin Tor to the Alliance. Varian was disappointed that Jaina had not conferred with him before she acted as he had been in secret talks with the blood elves to bring them back into the Alliance. Her attack on the Sunreavers would consequently drive the sin'dorei back to the Horde. Jaina is unapologetic as she believes the Sunreavers brought the expulsion on themselves. Jaina also calls Varian's diplomatic endeavors with the blood elves foolish as she now believes that "once Horde, always Horde". Varian stressed to her that the Alliance must act as one. Jaina told Varian to not "go soft" before leaving to prepare the Kirin Tor for war.

Later on, Varian discovered that Prince Anduin Wrynn and an Alliance champion went out on their own to stop Garrosh from using the Divine Bell. Though Anduin succeeded in stopping Garrosh and destroying the Divine Bell, it came at a great cost: Garrosh had assaulted Anduin and left him badly injured. Varian regretted not having sent Anduin to Stormwind immediately and ordered for Velen to be sent to him at once. Varian then mournfully tended to his son while Jaina, furious at the assault on her nephew, swore to Varian that the Kirin Tor would make Garrosh pay and promptly teleported out.
Aube des Aspects
Some time later, Kalec returned to the Nexus though still kept up his relationship with Jaina. Unbeknownst to Jaina, Kalec had found a strange artifact that was torturing him with visions of a prehistoric Azeroth. He often subconsciously contacted her during his mental battles with the visions, causing Jaina to respond and Kalec to think she was the one contacting him in the first place. Jaina expressed concern over Kalec's health, and also stated she had to do some things that she wasn't proud of, but were necessary.
Jaina teleported to the Nexus and discovered an ancient artifact and realized that its magic has something with titans. Kalec sensed someone so she teleported to the entrance to have Kalec think that she just arrived. After assuring that everything is all right she teleported to Dalaran for more study. At some point, Modera was looking for her and Jaina hid herself. After she was gone, she continued to study more tomes in order to learn anything about the titan artifact and thus rescue Kalec. She returned to the Nexus and began focusing her knowledge on the relic Kalec had found. She was able to see the world of proto-dragons through Alexstrasza's eyes and after Galakrond was defeated, she was successful in bringing Kalecgos to the present. She accompanied him to the Aspects's meeting and the blue dragon reminded them of their duty. During the convocation, Jaina was hidden behind a pillar but Alexstraza sensed her and as she was about to leave, she told Kalec to thank her. After this, Kalec took Jaina to Dalaran.

Jaina founded the Kirin Tor Offensive not only to defeat the emerging threat of a resurrected Lei Shen but also to prevent the Horde from scavenging any remains of his power should he be defeated. Jaina entered into an alliance with the Shado-Pan who had already established themselves in the Isle of Thunder and had already begun undermining the Thunder King's forces. Jaina sent her champions to Taran Zhu as a gesture of good will and to aid in their efforts.
Eventually the Kirin Tor Offensive assaulted Shaol'mara and established Violet Rise as their base of operations.
They pressed their advantage on the Thunder King by assaulting the Emperor's Gate. With the gate destroyed, the Shado-Pan and the Kirin Tor Offensive worked together to secure the Thunder Forges and Stormsea Landing. With the weapons liberated from the Thunder Forges and the Shado-Pan keeping vigil over Stormsea Landing, Kirin Tor resources were free to press the siege elsewhere.

Jaina led the Alliance forces against Shan Bu in the final assault on the Thunder King's stronghold. She learned that a Horde force led by Lor'themar Theron, regent lord of Quel'Thalas, was also about to launch an assault on the Thunder King, though opted to deal with one problem at a time. She was particularly eager to recapture Aethas Sunreaver, though put aside this goal to fight the mogu in the courtyard.
Jaina and Lor'themar came face to face after Shan Bu was defeated. Jaina ordered Aethas to be handed over to her in return for Lor'themar's life, while Lor'themar demanded the release of the Sunreavers from the Violet Hold in return for Jaina's. As tensions rose, Taran Zhu, though gravely wounded, intervened to defuse the situation, urging Lor'themar and Jaina to break the cycle of retribution and walk away. The two eventually agreed, though Jaina made it clear that no true peace would ever be enjoyed while Garrosh Hellscream rules the Horde. To her surprise, Lor'themar responded that that was precisely why they should conserve their strength that day. Softened by Lor'themar's answer, Jaina ordered Vereesa and her forces to back down. Theron and Jaina ended their parley with courteous bows, and, thanks to Zhu's mediation, left the courtyard bloodlessly.[20]
Jaina later tasked those Alliance adventurers who had sufficiently earned her trust to assault the Thunder King's palace and use the Staff of Antonidas to absorb his power from his dais in the Pinnacle of Storms. With the Thunder King's power fused with her staff, Jaina planned to use the Thunder King's terrible power on Garrosh when the time comes.

Jaina arrived alongside Lorewalker Cho and Lor'themar Theron at the Vault of Y'Shaarj after the Sha of Pride was defeated. She told the Regent Lord that she was not surprised that Garrosh's arrogance had unleashed the Sha upon the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. They also noticed that Garrosh left Gorehowl behind, and after advising Theron to stay out of the Alliance's way, Jaina sent the Alliance heroes through a portal to aid their forces besieging Orgrimmar.
Jaina and Vereesa Windrunner both accompany King Varian Wrynn's strike team to seize Bladefist Bay from Hellscream's forces, and takes part in the Galakras encounter. When the war moves to the Underhold, Jaina assists Alliance agents in the battle against Kor'kron orcs.
In the aftermath of Garrosh's defeat, Jaina glared at the Horde and accused them of plotting against the Alliance. She urged King Varian Wrynn to seize this opportunity to conquer Orgrimmar and dismantle the Horde, though it was an opportunity he did not take.

Jaina attended the trial of Garrosh Hellscream in the Temple of the White Tiger and was extremely happy when she first heard that they had been summoned for Garrosh's trial. King Varian, Prince Anduin, Kalecgos and Vereesa Windrunner were residing at Violet Rise with Jaina for the duration of the trial and there was a feeling of lightheartedness, peace and celebration at Violet Rise that night.
On the evening of the fourth day of the trial Kalec came to Jaina in her tent in Violet Rise and asked if she'd go for a walk with him, although he looked very concerned. On their way down to the beach Jaina recalled when she had went out to meet Kalec as he landed on the beach outside Theramore and first said he'd help in the city's defence. She recalled criticizing the generals that were planning Theramore's defense for taking too much personal enjoyment in the planning their defeat of the Horde, and noted bitterly that she was now one of those that she had mentally chided. She recalls the developing of the relationship between her and Kalec but how recent events had put distance between them, Kalec having only recently come to Pandaria.
Eventually they began to talk and Kalec expressed how he felt that Jaina had grown very hard and bitter and that she doesn't seem to stop hurting over what's happened. At this, Jaina became frustrated and listed out all the things that had happened to her. Kalec agreed that she a had a right to feel the way she did but said he was worried that her hatred would not end with the trial, referencing how she had advised Varian to dismantle the Horde during the Siege of Orgrimmar. Kalec said that now that more important matters were dealt with, such as stopping Garrosh, the differences between them mattered again, that they were both very different now and that they would have to wait and see what would happen between them until the end of the trial. They embraced and kissed, neither one wanting these differences to lead them to break up.
On the sixth day of the trial Tyrande called forth her next witness - the longwalker Perith Stormhoof. Although he initially refused to speak due to the oath he had sworn to Baine, after Baine explicitly ordered him to speak, he reluctantly did. After asking him some questions with regard to Magatha Grimtotem's taking over of Thunder Bluff just before the shattering, Tyrande had a vision brought up of Baine speaking to Jorn Skyseer, Hamuul Runetotem and Perith just after Magatha's coup. In the vision they discussed what their next course of action should be and finally Baine stated that he would go to Jaina Proudmoore for help because Garrosh wouldn't send aid and Jaina was known to be more moderate than most. This led to complete chaos in the courtroom.
Jaina simply stared at Tyrande, stunned and feeling terribly betrayed, having expected Baine to use this but not Tyrande. Eventually Kalec brought her back to reality and everyone in the courtroom was shouting. Varian, who was outraged, was demanding why Jaina hadn't told him about this. Taran Zhu then called a ten minute respite. Varian told Jaina that she had to tell him what was going to happen next, comparing this with Jaina's removing the Sunreavers from Dalaran without telling him. When the court resumed Tyrande again questioned Perith, asking about what took place at the meeting between Jaina and Baine. Perith reluctantly told of how Jaina had given Baine monetary aid to help take back Thunder Bluff.
Tyrande then asked whether this was their only secret correspondence, to which Perith said it wasn't. Tyrande then brought up her second vision. The second vision was in Jaina's parlour in Theramore. Jaina became deeply enthralled with the sight and began reminiscing sadly of her destroyed home. In the vision Perith was brought in to Jaina in her parlour. He said he was sent by Baine and warned Jaina that Garrosh was planning an imminent attack on Theramore Isle. He also brought with him Fearbreaker which had been given to Baine by Anduin when he first came to Jaina looking for help to retake Thunder Bluff. Perith said that Baine wanted to return Fearbreaker to its rightful owner. After the vision ended Jaina mockingly asked Varian whether he would arrest her for treason. To that Varian said he had only one question - whether she believed that Baine actually knew about the mana bomb. When Jaina immediately said no, Varian said that was good but demanded that after the the session was over she was to tell him everything that had happened. When the session ended soon after and everyone got up to leave Varian told Jaina to stay, saying that they were going to have a talk.
Varian became very angry at both Jaina and Anduin, outraged that Jaina would aid Baine but mainly frustrated that she hadn't told him before making the decision, to which Jaina stated that he wouldn't have listened, even if she had. When Varian said that he should put them both in prison Jaina responded that she wasn't his lieutenant or his child. She subsequently threatened to take the Kirin Tor out of the Alliance before leaving.
On the seventh day of the trial Jaina herself was called as a witness by Tyrande. Tyrande questioned Jaina on the events after Baine's warning and Jaina told how she sent for and received aid, as well as how they won the battle when the Horde initially attacked and drove them back. Tyrande then questioned here on what happened after the attack, about the The Focusing Iris and about the moments just before the Mana bomb dropped. Tyrande then, somewhat reluctantly, brought up the next vision, this one of Jaina and Rhonin in her tower just as the goblin zeppelin carrying the Focusing Iris started to reach Theramore. In the vision Rhonin told Jaina that he could divert the bomb so it would hit Jaina's magically fortified tower, thus minimizing the damage. He then started to do this but first opened a portal for Jaina and a few others to go through which was very difficult as the mana bomb was so close.
Jaina repeatedly refused to go through saying that she would stay and help defend her city. Eventually Rhonin told her that she was the future of the Kirin Tor before pushing her through the portal seconds before the bomb landed. Everyone in the courtroom was horrified and many in the present cried out when the bomb landed. After a respite, court resumed and Tyrande continued her questioning of Jaina and asked her what happened after she went through the portal. Jaina, pale and red-eyed, replied that she regained consciousness on an island outside Thermaore and said how she told Kalec, who found her, that she wanted to go back to the city alone. Tyrande then proceeded to show another vision. In this one Jaina was walking through what was left of Theramore, with bodies distorted and floating in mid air due to the magic energy still present. The past Jaina eventually found the body her old apprentice, Kinndy, but when she reached out to touch it it crumbled to violet sand and the past Jaina screamed in agony and began to weep. Tyrande the nodded to Chromie to stop the vision and ended her examination.
After Tyrande finished, Baine stood up and began his questioning. He asked Jaina how she felt in the aftermath of Theramore and also asked her what she did after. She replied by telling him how she went to Stormwind looking for support from Varian, who disagreed with the idea, and led Jaina to storming out of Stormwind Keep. She then said how she went to the Kirin Tor for aid, but who also refused, and how she then recovered the Focusing Iris and used it to create an army of water elementals with which she was going to use to destroy Orgrimmar. Go'el attempted to stop her but would have been killed if Kalec had not arrived and convinced her that if she went through with this she would be just like Arthas, to which she realized Kalec was right.
Tyrande then stated she had one more question before they ended court for the day. She asked Jaina if the reason she was glad she refrained was because, if she had released the tidal wave, she would have inadvertently wiped out the Alliance fleet. Jaina replied by saying that, while she was glad she didn't accidentally destroy the Alliance fleet, that wasn't the only reason. She then looked at Garrosh and said the main reason she was glad was because she would never want to be like Garrosh. Tyrande, however, did not stop and pressed the point, asking whether she didn't want to be like Garrosh or whether she didn't want to be like the Horde. Jaina paused and, after a while, replied by saying that the Horde wasn't Garrosh. This immediately caused Tyrande's eyes to widen as her questioning backfired. She said she had no more questions and the court session ended.
On the ninth and final day of the trial the accuser and defender presented their final arguments to the jury. After the arguments Jaina declined to have a meal with Kalec, preferring to have some time alone to think. She was eating when Jia Ji brought here a message with the red wax the mark of the Horde. She opened and read it. The message read:
It took some time for me to learn what happened in Dalaran. You used to be
a woman of peace; you be that no more. Garrosh scorches earth, and the
dead ain't the only victims. You got no blame or hate from me, no matter
what you feel toward Garrosh—or the Horde.
We all got our ghosts.

After reading it several times she sent a message back telling the warchief that she was thankful for his understanding. She then saw Kalec shaking hands with Varian and Anduin and realized he was leaving. She ran to him, through the crowds, shouting his name and he turned to see her. She jumped into his arms and they kissed.
When Garrosh escaped with Kairoz through a time portal, alternate versions of many of the people present emerged from it, including one of Jaina. This version of Jaina was, in fact, a past version of her - not a possible one. It was her possessed with hatred for the Horde and began throwing fireballs at the members of the Horde in the courtroom as well as deflecting a fireball thrown at her by the true-timeline Jaina, leading the true-timeline Jaina to wonder how she can defeat herself.
Later Jaina, having somehow overcome her doppelganger, hit Warlord Zaela in the back with a fireball while she was fighting Varian. Varian looked up to see Jaina get shot through the chest by Shokia from the zeppelin and collapse. Varian immediately abandoned Zaela, picked up Jaina and brought her inside the temple. When Varian and Jaina entered the temple the fighting was over and everyone else had managed to accept and defeat their alternate selves. When Go'el saw Varian enter with Jaina, who was limp and pale, he and Aggra ran over to her and attempted to heal her wound. Anduin, Tyrande and Velen also arrived and did their best to try and heal Jaina. The wound however, was too serious and they were too exhausted from fighting.
Kalec ran up and held Jaina and went very still. Everyone was despairing, save for Anduin, who refused to stop trying to heal Jaina. Chi-Ji, now hovering above them, promptly stated that "The student remembers the lessons of my temple" and proceeded to heal Jaina and the other injured, giving them all the second chance that was intended for Garrosh. Jaina opened her eyes and looked happy. She also took Go'el's hand and squeezed it, effectively forgiving him. After the celestials explained that they would have allowed Garrosh to live so he could continue to learn and how he was not the only one that was on trial, they told them that they must now go back out into the world and do what they must. All heads then eventually turned to Go'el and he humbly spoke for them all, stating that they would find Garrosh.
Warlords of Draenor
Jaina arrives at Khadgar's Tower in Zangarra after Khadgar is attacked by Garona. While she approves of the Alliance commander and thanks them, the Horde commander is reminded that the Horde are not allowed to be part of the Council of Six's business. Khadgar says that it's not the first time that he disagreed with the council and it won't be the last. After Khadgar gets stitched up by Cordana, he and Jaina go inside his tower to further empower the commander's ring. Together, they make it into an even more powerful ring, and Jaina comments that Khadgar is working with dangerous artifacts that he shouldn't dabble with. She leaves on a good note for the Alliance commander and tells them to be careful in Blackrock Foundry, but to the Horde commander, she simply says that she'll keep her eyes on them.
Legion
Jaina is present at the Broken Shore, fighting alongside King Varian Wrynn and Genn Greymane and leading a squad of Kirin Tor Battle-Mages. During the Battle for the Broken Shore, the Alliance forces are left vulnerable by the Horde's unexpected retreat. The Alliance try to retreat on a gunship but is impeded by a summoned fel reaver. The Alliance forces watched helplessly as King Varian Wrynn sacrificed himself by distracting the Burning Legion forces so that the Alliance forces can fly to safety. In the aftermath of the battle she attends Varian's funeral, and is outraged at her belief that the Horde left the Alliance to die against the demons. Jaina pushes for a front against both the Legion and the Horde, arguing with Velen and Anduin over it, and says that her mages will never work with the Horde again, nor would they be allowed in Dalaran despite Velen and Anduin advocating for it. Even so, she has arranged for Dalaran to move to Deadwind Pass in order to aid in the protection of the Eastern Kingdoms.[21]
When Khadgar asks the Council of Six to let Horde mages back into the Kirin Tor, Jaina refuses, citing the atrocities and betrayals the Horde committed in the past. The council holds it to a vote though she warns them that she would leave the Kirin Tor should they choose to let the Horde back into Dalaran. Ultimately, she is defeated 4-2. Feeling betrayed, she lambastes the Six for blindly trusting the Horde and tells them to remember her warnings the next time the Horde betrays them again. After which, she teleports out of Dalaran, leaving the Kirin Tor in Khadgar's hands.[22]

Personnalité
Jaina Proudmoore is one of the most inquisitive and talented sorceresses in Lordaeron. With her power and intellect, many survivors of Lordaeron looked to her leadership to thrive in the foreign lands of their nation in Theramore Isle while other leaders of the Alliance appreciated her wisdom in their faction's affairs. Although she was originally wary of the orcs[23], her time fighting shoulder to shoulder with Thrall during the Third War showed her that orcs were capable of honor. Jaina hoped Thrall's patience and diplomatic leadership would rub off on his people and curb their aggressive tendencies, thus leading to peace and coexistence between their races. Since her nation of Theramore lives so close to the Horde's kingdoms in Durotar, she hoped peace could be achieved between their races before one of their nations gets annihilated by the tides of war.
Like Thrall, Jaina was an advocate of peace and moderation between the Alliance and Horde. Even so, old hatreds or manipulation from nefarious agents have constantly undermined her efforts to promote diplomacy between the rival factions. Jaina has gone to great lengths to appease the costs of peace, even going so far as to sabotage her father, Admiral Daelin Proudmoore, in his campaign to annihilate the Horde and let the Horde forces kill him.[24] She even attempted to sway King Varian Wrynn to establish more formal diplomatic ties with the Horde,[25] though Varian felt that the Horde cannot be trusted.[26] Though political tensions continued to escalate between her faction and the Horde, Jaina continued to coordinate with Thrall and even aid certain Horde leaders such as Baine Bloodhoof through back channels.[27]
After the fall of Theramore to Garrosh's mana bomb, Jaina became deeply affected by the trauma of the event. For a time she believed that her father had been right, snapping out of it only after Kalec forced her to acknowledge that her anger was making her act exactly like Arthas had been. Though still strong and independent, she is no longer as friendly or as trusting as she once was, especially to the Horde. Jaina has become committed to removing Garrosh from power. Though the initial rage she showed was a side-effect of the bomb, she is much less tolerant of orcs now (though she no longer possesses the desire to kill them all, and realizes that not all of them are like Garrosh) and has ceased her friendship with Thrall, citing him as the root cause of Theramore's destruction as he placed Garrosh in power in the first place. Even the Sunreavers' role in betraying the Kirin Tor neutrality by circumventing her wards to aid the Horde in obtaining a magical weapon of destruction further reinforced her justified distrust of Horde aligned races. In spite of this, she admitted that peace may be possible if Garrosh is removed, and admitted that she wished she had parted with Thrall on better terms, implying that it may be possible to mend fences later on. She also felt guilt for planning to wipe out Orgrimmar but still firmly believes that Horde power, aggression, and influence should be checked. Jaina is more bellicose now and will not hesitate to act militantly to those who threaten the security of her people or undermine peace (although she still draws the line at killing non-combatants).[28]
Life on Theramore Isle is fairly insular, but Jaina welcomes visitors with warm lodging and hearty meals in exchange for stories about the outside world. Her people are simple, with most spending their days as kelp farmers or fishermen. In exchange for information or artifacts that might improve the lives of her people, Jaina has been known to provide arcane assistance to visitors, including occasionally teleporting travelers great distances, summoning elementals to guide them on their journeys or warding them with enchantments. In the event that her people are faced with a dire threat, Jaina will voluntarily accompany or aid adventurers who share her goal of protecting Theramore Isle.[29][30]
Against mortal foes, Jaina is merciful and tries to capture or force a surrender. Against demons and undead, Jaina is ruthless and uses her spells to their maximum potential for damage. She prefers to remain at great range.[30]
Relations
Kalecgos
Jaina first met with Kalecgos when he was searching for the stolen Focusing Iris. During that time, they quickly became friends while they talked about their pasts, finding out that they share the same pain of losing someone they loved. As soon as Kalecgos left, Jaina began to realize that she missed him. When Jaina was about to flood Origrimmar in retaliation for the destruction of Theramore, Kalecgos was the only one able to calm her down, reminding her that she wouldn't stoop as low as Arthas during his culling of Stratholme. After Jaina became leader of the Kirin Tor and Dalaran, she and Kalec began a romance.[9] During the events of the trial of Garrosh Hellscream Jaina and Kalecgos, now having time to consider their relationship began to drift apart, with Kalecgos expressing concern that Jaina wasn't letting go of her hatred for Garrosh and the Horde and that it was beginning to consume her. Towards the end of the trial Jaina, having spent a lot of time in self-reflection throughout the trial and having just read a letter from Vol'jin as well as seeing Kalec about to leave, rushed to him and they embraced and kissed, making up.
Arthas
She and Arthas came to share a strong friendship that lead to very serious romance. But initially, their duties to Dalaran and Lordaeron forced them to put things on hold for a time. When they attempted to rekindle, the Scourge invasion got in the way. Their relationship is shown in the novel Arthas: Rise of the Lich King. It is also shown that Jaina was still haunted by Arthas' descending to darkness, thinking it was her fault. In addition, nightmare caused by the Emerald Nightmare, Jaina dreams what would happen if she followed Arthas to Northrend and ends up becoming the Lich Queen in order to prevent Arthas from taking up the accursed blade.[16] In the quest Frostmourne, it was hinted that she had not give up her love for him. In Twilight of the Aspects, an alternate timeline was shown that Arthas, along with Jaina, were forced from Lordaeron to Stormwind. It was then said that they had a son named Uther Menethil, which seems to prove that if Arthas had never fallen into madness, Jaina would have remained by his side.
Thrall
After Jaina and Thrall's armies were forced to work together after the meeting with Medivh, the two leaders soon became good friends. Thrall once stated that Jaina reminded him strongly of Taretha Foxton, but Jaina herself made no specific reason for her to trust Thrall. Their friendship was nonetheless strong, even having endured the battle of Durotar, which cost Jaina her father and Thrall many of his warriors. However, ever since Garrosh's assault on Theramore that ended in the city's obliteration, Jaina's friendship with Thrall has been severely tested as she blames him for putting Garrosh in power, which subsequently leads to the current events.
Initially, a number of fans had speculated that Thrall and Jaina would be romantically involved at some point, but that proved to be false as Thrall developed a romantic relationship with a Mag'har orc named Aggra in Cataclysm. When Thrall and Aggra became life-mates, Jaina started crying with joy. Despite this, the decoded message from a White Punch Card drop that reads "Thrall and Jaina sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G" became an in-game joke to fans.
Kael'thas
It would appear that Kael'thas fell in love with her during Jaina's training with Antonidas, but their differences in their age (she was a teenager and he was several centuries old) filled him with guilt and self-doubt, and resulted in only an awkward friendship between the two. When he eventually did approach her, she had already fallen in love with Arthas Menethil, and was at such a juncture that her studies came first. When contemplating Thrall's words of having a life companion, Jaina acknowledged Kael'thas' love for her, silently contemplating that while she had respected and admired Kael'thas, both he and Arthas had fallen to the weaker parts of their nature.[9]

- Jaina was born 3 years BDP, making her 33 years old by the time of Mists of Pandaria according to the timeline from the Ultimate Visual Guide.
- Lady Jaina Proudmoore is a skilled practitioner of transmutation magic. She has developed a powerful variation of the popular mass-teleport spell that is capable of moving a significant percentage of her army with minimal effort. This spell helps make her extremely unpredictable on the battlefield.[31]
- Jaina currently carries the Staff of Antonidas — a gift from her late mentor.[32]
- Jaina probably previously owned Halion, Staff of Forgotten Love, but it was taken by the Scourge at some point.
- Jaina was voiced by Carrie Gordon Lowrey in Warcraft III, World of Warcraft, and World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, and is now voiced by Laura Bailey in Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm, Mists of Pandaria, Warlords of Draenor and Legion.
- Jaina was planned to die as part of a main story element in an early draft for Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, but that idea was scrapped as Arthas didn't need any more motivation to chase after Mal'Ganis than he already had. The love story between Jaina and Arthas was also planned to appear in the game, and Jaina may have also been planned to become a banshee, but it was scrapped as it was too similar to the story of Jim Raynor and Sarah Kerrigan from StarCraft. The banshee plot point was instead moved to Sylvanas Windrunner.[33]
- In Rise of the Lich King is implied that she had sexual relationships with Arthas during Hallow's end and a few days before the Culling of Stratholme.
- Both Arthas and Thrall compared Jaina to Taretha Foxton. Kalecgos has compared her to Anveena Teague, at least in physical appearance.
- In the novel The Shattering: Prelude to Cataclysm, Anduin Wrynn notes that Jaina's favorite snacks are Dalaran Sharp and sliced apples.
- In the novel Stormrage, Jaina acted in Varian's nightmare. Varian saw her alongside many shapes of Tiffins and Anduins atop the wall of Stormwind. Her expression was dire, a thing caught between horror and death.
- Jaina is presented as an Echo in a possible future.
- Jaina was a part of the Great Alliance. The name is taken from world editor and is not mentioned in the game or in any other account.
- Jaina is supposedly still wearing the clothes she wore in Warcraft III, except for the hood and the cape.
- In the Frozen Halls, Jaina refers to Frostmourne as "the blade that destroyed our kingdom". This could suggest that she thought of Lordaeron as her kingdom, possibly due to her relationship with Arthas and her involvement in many of Lordaeron's matters.
- She is the Hero (player character) for the Mage class in Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft. Her flavor text reads: "The Kirin Tor's leader is a powerful sorceress. She used to be a lot nicer before the Theramore thing."
- She is a playable character in Heroes of the Storm.
- Jaina has not contacted Kul Tiras since the aftermath of the Third War.[34]
- Jaina considers Anduin to be her nephew.[35]
- An image of Lady Jaina Proudmoore can spawn to the mages with Raiment of the Arcanic Conclave.
- In the RPG, Jaina has another brother, Tandred Proudmoore, but Blizzard has stated he will not be made canon.[36]
Alternate timelines
A version of Jaina Proudmoore exists in a timeway where history turned out completely different and which was entered by Thrall during the Cataclysm era.[37]
In a timeline where the Old Gods and Deathwing succeed in bringing about the Hour of Twilight, a crazed echo of Jaina lingers in the shattered remains of the Azure Dragonshrine.
During the trial of Garrosh Hellscream, Jaina from another timeway materialized in the Temple of the White Tiger and immediately began attacking Horde members. She was described as a woman with a single golden streak in her white hair, clad in flowing white, purple, and blue, and bearing an ornate staff. Her mouth was set in a hard, angry line, and her eyes glowed pale blue. She was noticed and attacked by Jaina from the main universe. According to Baine, Kairoz selected the most broken and darkest versions. To send them back to their own realities, one was to accept the other self.[35]
In yet another timeline, after the fall of Theramore, Kalecgos and Go'el were unable to stop her as she destroyed Orgrimmar, leading Azeroth to open war. Amongst the known casualties were Jaina herself and almost entirety of the blue dragonflight, leaving only Kalecgos alive but mad.[35]
